Overseas student health cover

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (http://www.immi.gov.au/) requires all international students to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of their stay in Australia, as a condition of their student visa (See Factsheet: http://www.immi.gov.au/students/_pdf/oshc-faq.pdf).

OSHC helps international students cover expenses if they require medical and/or hospital care during their stay in Australia. OSHC will also make limited contributions to pharmaceutical and ambulance expenses.

The following insurers offer OSHC:

  • Australian Health Management
  • BUPA Australia
  • Medibank Private
  • OSHC Worldcare
  • nib OSHC
